Here is a solution, confirmed by Google Play Support, and does not require your phone to be rooted to solve this issue. Follow the steps mentioned below to overcome the issue.
- Go to Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications
- Now Go to “All.”
- Scroll down and look for “Google Play Store” and tap on it to select it.
- You will see options like Force close, clear data, uninstall updates, etc.
- Click on ‘Force Close’ then Click on ‘Clear Data’ and also Click on ‘Uninstall Updates’
Once you have followed the steps, you will be no longer able to update your favorite apps from the Google Play Store.
